How the monthly payment is calculated

This uses the standard amortizing-loan formula: the monthly rate is the annual rate divided by 12, and the payment is set so that equal monthly installments pay off both the principal and the interest by the end of the term. Early payments are weighted more toward interest and later ones more toward principal, even though the payment amount itself stays flat. This is an estimate — real loans may add fees, insurance, or a different compounding method, so treat this as a starting point rather than a binding quote.

How an EMI calculator helps

An EMI calculator estimates the regular payment for a loan using the principal amount, annual interest rate and loan tenure. It can help you compare different borrowing scenarios before approaching a lender.

The estimated payment is based on the inputs you provide. Actual loan offers can differ because lenders may apply processing fees, insurance, floating rates, rounding rules or other conditions.

What affects your EMI?

A larger loan generally increases the payment. A higher interest rate also increases the payment, while a longer tenure can reduce the monthly payment but may increase the total interest paid over the life of the loan.

Frequently asked questions

Does a lower EMI always mean a cheaper loan? No. A longer tenure can lower the monthly payment while increasing total interest.

Can I use this for home loans or personal loans? Yes, as a general estimate, provided the loan follows a standard reducing-balance EMI structure.
